What Actually Happens When You Make a Will with a Lawyer
People often expect making a will to be complicated, time-consuming, stressful and expensive. More often than not, clients are surprised at how simple the process actually is. For many, it is almost a sigh of relief once they sit down with us.
Here is what it looks like. You make an appointment to come in and sit with one of our solicitors. We discuss your background, including a brief medical history and your assets, so that we can build a complete picture of your situation. We then talk you through the estate planning documents: who you are nominating as executors, your thoughts about substitutes, and what you would like to do with your assets, whether that is gifting specific items or a pool of assets in a certain way.
We are able to relieve much of the stress and anxiety simply by having those conversations as ordinary people across the table, which most clients find genuinely helpful. Most of our solicitors and all of our support staff are local, so we understand our area and the people who live here, and we can talk with you just as two ordinary people would. It is not the typical, formal solicitor and client relationship.
